I made the first version of this for my husband, since then, I've made a few for close friends or family going through (or having been through) a tough time.  The 18ct gold wire is to symbolise that something that may seem fragile or small that is strong enough to hold you together when it feels impossible.  I've hammered and oxidised a 6mm wide silver band, which I've scrubbed back to give a nice contrast to the polish of the gold.
